Class Summary - Students can start today doing this activity: http://www.purposegames.com/game/parts-of-the-skull-side-quiz Today we went over the bones of the skull worksheet. Today we talked about the ribcage. The ribs protect the organs in the pectoral girdle. There are 7 true ribs and 5 false ribs (including 2 floating ribs #11 and 12). True ribs connect directly to the sternum and false ribs do not. The costal cartilage of the ribcage allows for movement to inhale and exhale. We also discussed the sternum which is 3 bones fused together. The manubrium, the body and the xiphoid process. Students were assigned a worksheet on the axial skeleton due tomorrow after a quiz on the skull.
