Class Summary - Today we reviewed the bones and the surface features that we learned of the pectoral girdle and the upper limbs. Then we talked about the lower part of the appendicular skeleton. We talked about the pelvic girdle including two bones called coxa. Each coxal bone includes the illium portion, ischium portion and pubic portion. Students should also know accessory features like the obturator foramen and pubic symphysis. We also discussed the differences between the male and female pelvis. We then talked about the femur and its accessory features. The tibia and the fibula make up the lower part of the leg. We discussed their features also. We finished off with the bones of the foot including tarsals, metatarsals and phalanges. We also talked about the talus and the calcaneus bones. There are new flashcard groups added to study blue to prepare for these quizzes.
Homework - I handed out an appendicular lower half worksheet packet. There will be a work day tomorrow on the worksheet, Zspace and Review games. There will be appendicular quiz on Wednesday.
Objectives - Students will know the bones and surface features of the bones in the pelvic girdle.
