Class Summary - This week we will do a crash course of the respiratory system. Students will take a 'quest' at the completion of the crash course (3 lessons). The quest is weighted like a test but the depth and length of a quiz. Today we started the anatomy of the respiratory system by talking about the location, function and parts of the nose (nostrils and nasal cavity, conchae and paranasal sinuses), pharynx (nasopharynx, oropharynx, laryngopharynx), the larynx including vocal cords and glottis and laryngeal prominence, and the trachea and cartilaginous rings and mucosa.
Homework - "Quest" on Wednesday
Objectives - Students will describe the events that comprise respiration, students will describe ventilation including inspiration and expiration, and students will describe the structure and functions of the respiratory system organs.
