Class Summary - Today we addressed the section on cell junctions, extracellular glands, and membranes. We talked about tight junctions, gap junctions and adhesion junctions and looked at pictures of each. We also talked about glands like ducts and goblet cells. We also talked about different membranes including mucus membranes (found where the body opens to the outside like nose and eyes), serous membranes (found around body cavities and organs), synovial membranes (found between joints) and meninges (found in brain and spinal cord) and the cutaneous membranes (the skin).
Homework - The test for Body Tissues and Membranes is on Thursday.
Objectives - Students will state the location for different membranes. Students will identify the purpose of glands.
