Class Summary - Today, read through the slides at the bottom of the page. If you were in class, we would talk about how stress can be both a good thing (Eustress) and a negative thing (Distress). We would talk about how stress helps us rise to a challenge and get us out of emergency situations. However, this stress can deplete our energy stores and become distress very easily. We would have talked about different types of stressors and stressors that the students personally have in their lives. A 'stressor' is something that causes the stress. Then we would discuss how important it is to have healthy ways to relieve stress because of all of the possible negative stress effects on the body. Do the progressive muscle relaxation techniques and the visually imagery. Extra props if you have a family member do it with you also. Finally, please watch the 15 minute Ted Talk on how to make stress work to a student's advantage. The Ted Talk is linked below.
