Summary - Today we will focus on school policy regarding violence issues and the protocol to report harassment and violence through the school. Osseo-Fairchild has a zero tolerance policy and our respect standards in the student handbook address reasonable and appropriate behaviors. Open the handbook linked below.
The respect standards start on page 7. Then fill in the google doc (https://drive.google.com/file/d/15q1RWtIrIVdlXbJVVLs7pTTz36DfqoIT/view?usp=sharing) showing you can access and understand the school policy on violence. You will have to make a copy of the document and save it as STUDENT NAME 3/25 Respect Standards and share it back with me when you are finished.
Then read through the slides below on how to mediate a conflict. There are 6 steps to effectively mediate conflict. 1. Emphasizing Neutrality 2. Establishing Guidelines 3. Ask Each Person to State Their View 4. Identify Each Person's Goal 5. Explore Possible Solutions 6. Don't Give Up
Next, think of how different avenues can actually encourage violence. Like movies, music, news etc. Fill out the last page (#1-3 on media violence) on the google doc brainstorming how different media do this.
Finally, fill out the table with MORE THAN ONE FOR EACH examples in each column as you reflect on what should have been learned already in class up to this point. When completed, share the google doc back with me if you haven't already done so.
