Class Summary - Today we went over the previous chapter test on organization of cells. Then we introduced tissues. There are 4 types of tissues; Epithelial, Nervous, Muscular and Connective. We then focused on epithelial tissues. We learned descriptive terms like simple (one layer) and stratified (multiple layers) and squamous (flat), cuboidal (square), columnar (rectangular). We looked at pictures, gave examples of places on the body where you can find these tissues and practiced naming the epithelial tissues. Then, students were to complete a worksheet chart on tissues as an introduction to next unit on Body Tissues and Membranes. There will be a short quiz tomorrow on naming epithelial tissues.
Homework - Tissues Chart and Epithelial Review WS due tomorrow (textbook quiz tomorrow on connective tissue section 4.2)
Objectives - Students will identify types of epithelial tissue. Students will identify location and purpose of epithelial cells.
