Class Summary - Today we continued our stress section of mental and emotional health. We reviewed that stress is a feeling that is created when we react to particular events. It is the body's way of rising to a challenge and preparing to meet a tough situation with focus, strength, stamina and heightened alertness. We reviewed what the fight or flight response was and about its association with stress and the effects of stress on our bodies. We talked about how stress can be helpful and hurtful. We defined distress as bad stress and eustress as good stress. Today we will be talking about and trying some stress relief techniques. We also started the belly breathing and relaxation audio CD so the students could see what it is like. Participation points were awarded for students working with the CD.
