Introduction to Coaching and Leadership
9/16 Pep Talks / Speaking in Front of a Group
Class Summary - Today students watched and completed an edpuzzle which was a clip from Dead Poet's Society to introduce speaking in front of a group. Then students were to watch a collection of pep talks from coaches. They were to look at how the coach used different techniques like volume, story telling, physical touch, emotion etc. to motivate the group. The links to the videos are below. Finally, I told students that tomorrow they would be talking in front of the class. They could talk about anything but they need to fill 1-2 minutes of time talking the entire time. We brainstormed things that students should be doing as they talked to the group like making eye contact, varying intonation, moving and using gestures.
