Muscles of the Thigh and Leg
Class Summary - Today we learned about the muscles of the hip and lower thigh. We learned about the muscles that move the thigh; illiopsoas, gluteus maximus, gluteus medius, adductor muscles (pectineius, adductor longus, adductor magnus and gracilis). We talked about the muscles that move the leg; quadriceps (rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, vastus intermedius), sartorius, and the hamstring group (Biceps femoris, semimembranosus, and semitendinosis). We also talked about the muscles that move the ankle and foot; gastrocnemius, soleus, tibialis anterior, fibularis muscles, and the flexor/extensor digitorum.
Homework - Quiz on the muscles (identifying from pictures) Monday, The test on the anatomy of the muscular system anatomy is on Tuesday. Cumulative final is on Friday, November 22nd.
Objectives - Students will identify location and function of major superficial muscles in each body region.
