Class Summary - Today students were quizzed on the information we discussed about water. Today we also talked about vitamins. NThere are two categories of vitamins; water soluble and fat soluble. We need to get water soluble vitamins regularly because we cannot store them in our bodies like we can fat soluble vitamins. Water soluble vitamins are vitamins like C and B vitamins and fat soluble vitamins are ADEK. Today we also talked about minerals. The 4 minerals that we spent more time on were Calcium (good source; diary problems if we don't get enough; osteoporosis), Iron (good sources; red meat, kidney beans and spinach problems if we don't get enough; anemia), Potassium (good sources; bananas and potatoes problems if we don't get enough; cramps) and Sodium (good sources; salt and packaged products problems if we don't' get enough; goiter but most often Americans get way too much causing hypertension / high blood pressure).
