Class Summary - Today we continued the drug abuse presentations:
Prescription Drugs Slang Names - Kibbles and Bits, Pineapple and Kiddie Cocaine (ritalin), Oxy, Bars, Pharm Parties are where people put all of their prescription drugs in a bowl and then people attending the party will take a handful combination of the drugs. This is extremely dangerous as certain drug interactions can cause death and everyone's body responds differently to the effects of prescription drugs. How its made / where it comes from - Pharmaceutical Companies / Labs Drug Classifications - Stimulants (Ritalin), Opiates (Morphine, Codeine, Oxycontin) How it is put into the body - swallowed, snorted, injected What are its effects on the body - Drowsiness, constipation, depressed breathing, slowed heart rate, paranoia, high body temperature, irregular heart beat, Seizures, slow respiration, anxiety, crazy episodes, fevers, twitching, hygiene problems, suicide, addiction, withdrawal effects (can lead to death), insomnia, etc.
Homework - Drug Abuse Test Monday (Students can use their drug data sheets on the test)
