Class Summary - Today we started out reviewing the information on the grains, vegetable, milk and fruit groups that we had previously discussed. We also discuss the Meat and Beans group. The rule for the meat and bean group is to 'go lean with protein'. We talked about lean cuts of meat and meats that we should avoid. Some beans can double count as the meat and beans group and the vegetable group. We also talked about the oils group that has the rule 'limit'. Students were assigned a food group and myplate activity as homework.
Next class period, students will be given a quiz on the rules for each food group. Students will given the food group and they will need to write the recommendation / rule that the USDA gave that food group.
