Class Summary - Today we watched a DVD about the USDA recommendations. The DVD covers the new ‘food pyramid’, ‘My Plate’ and the dietary guidelines including eat nutrient dense foods, balance calories in with calories out, and reduce solid fats and added sugars. It talks about how myplate helps build meals that include nutritious and filling choices from all of the food groups.

Objectives - Students will explain the structure of the food plate (Standard 1 Core Concepts. Students will describe the US Dietary Guidelines for Americans (Standard 1 Core Concepts).
