Class Summary - Today we started talking about being a wise health consumer. We talked about what a consumer was. We discuss some factors to consider before buying a product like safety, cost, warranty and consumer testing. We discuss where to get information about services and how to get reliable information. We then discuss advertising. We talk about different advertising techniques that can be used to sell a product like scientific studies, bandwagon, testimonial, comparison to other products, emotional appeal, and price appeal. We then will do an assignment where students were identify different advertisement techniques in magazine ads. They are to click on the button below (Advertising Examples Assignment) and find examples of each advertising technique and defend why they thought that was a good example. They should make a copy of the document and save in their google docs and share with me when completed.
