Class Summary - Today we talked in class about how to show that we are genuinely listening to someone's concerns. We started out going through everyone in class asking them a question from my conversation cards set. When we were done, students had to attempt to recall what was said. We talked about the importance of listening to people if we are put in a leadership role. We talked about effective body language when listening to someone including putting away technology, eye contact, mimicking emotions, removing barriers etc. Students role played how they would show they were genuinely listening and then role played how they would be distracted and not really listening. We watched a couple video clips, one from a tv show and one informational regarding active listening.
Homework - Students will be getting a summative grade by role playing active listening in class tomorrow
Learning Objectives - Students will demonstrate active listening skills (Standard 4 Interpersonal Communication)
