Class Summary - Today we went over the parts of the heart. We talked about systematic and pulmonary circulatory systems (and a little bit about coronary). We talked about parts of the heart including the atrium, valves, septum, pericardium etc. We discussed the right side of the heart tracing blood through the vena cava, right atrium, tricuspid valve, right ventricle. We also discussed chordae tendinae and papillary muscles. We will continue with the heart anatomy on Monday.
Homework - Students then were to fill out a diagram of the internal and external parts of the heart. Because we did not get to all of the parts this worksheet is NOT due on Monday.
Objectives - Students will describe the location of the heart and its functions. Students will describe the wall and coverings of the heart. Students will trace the path of blood through the heart, naming its chambers and valves.
