Summary - Today we discussed school policy on violence issues and the protocol to report harassment and violence through the school. Osseo-Fairchild has a zero tolerance policy and our respect standards in the student handbook address reasonable and appropriate behaviors. Students looked into the handbook and did a fill in the blank activity to skim and scan policy. Then we discussed how to mediate a conflict. There is 6 steps to effectively mediate conflict. 1. Emphasizing Neutrality 2. Establishing Guidelines 3. Ask Each Person to State Their View 4. Identify Each Person's Goal 5. Explore Possible Solutions 6. Don't Give Up Finally, we discussed how different avenues can perpetuate violence. Like movies, music, news etc.
