Class Summary - Today we took a ungraded pretest on the female and male reproductive system. Once done we corrected it and talked about the main parts of the female reproductive system (Fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, cervix, vagina, breasts, endometrium, vulva; labia and clitoris) and their functions. We also talked about care of the female reproductive system and certain health concerns that females should be aware of. Then we discussed the various parts of the male reproductive system - seminal vesicle, prostate, cowper's gland, vas deferens, epididymis, testes, urethra and penis. We talked about care for the male reproductive system and also things that would indicate abnormal developments of the male reproductive system.
Homework - There will be a quiz on the female and male reproductive system very similar to the prequiz that we had today, on Friday. It will be labeling a diagram and also matching function to anatomy.
Objectives - Students will summarize the basic female and male reproductive parts and functions. Students will explain important health screenings, immunizations, and checkups including screenings and examinations that are necessary to maintain reproductive health such as self testicular examinations and pap smears. Students will summarize the relationship of the menstrual cycle to conception.
