Class Summary - We spent some time today doing bubble pop reviews on both picture identification and general knowledge that the students should know by today. Today we talked about the diencephalon. This is a region around the third ventricle. It includes the hypothalamus, thalamus and pineal gland. The hypothalamus deals with hunger, thirst and sleep. The thalamus works as a relay center that sends information from the body to the appropriate part of the brain. The pineal gland secretes hormones that deal with daily rhythms.
Homework - None
Objectives - Students will describe the major parts of the brain and state functions of each structure.
