Class Summary - Students were told to complete the vocabulary sheets before December 20th. Sheets can be round attached below. Today we discussed some topics related to nutrition. I started out asking students to text someone what they ate for breakfast and why. This brought on a discussion of why we eat what we do (analyzing influences) We then worked towards core concepts as we discussed what the definition of calorie and who needs more calories and why which lead us into talking about metabolism and diet. We had good discussions regarding arguments about fast food being convenient but there are healthy foods that are just as easy, we talked about what can be done to change our metabolism (even though there is a genetic component to it) and we talked about balancing our calories burned from calories eaten even though 200 calories of doughnut is not the same as 200 calories of broccoli.

Objectives - Students will explain how the body obtains energy from food. Explain how energy imbalance causes weight gain and weight loss. Explain how metabolisms differ. Students will analyze why they choose the foods they eat.
