Class Summary - We started out today talking about risk factors. We discussed types of risk factors that we have control over (mostly behaviors) and also some that we don't have control over (like heredity). Today introduced the DECIDE process. The DECIDE process is a tactic that can be used when faced with a tough decision. Each letter stands for part of the steps in the decide process. D - Define the Problem E - Explore the Alternatives C - Consider the Consequences I - Identify Your Values D - Decide and Act E - Evaluate the Results We then practiced using the DECIDE process. Students were to get a partner and fill out a form with D,E,C,I,D,E on it to make a choice based on a situation that I gave them. DECIDE stands for define the problem, explore the alternatives, consider the consequences, identify your values, decide and act and evaluate the results. Students will be graded on this in class assignment. Today and Tomorrow we will present that situation in class for participation points. They were to use the DECIDE process to think the choice through and evaluate the choice they made. They will then share their answers in the class for participation points. Students should have the acronym and what DECIDE stands for memorized for the test tomorrow.
